Local Libraries - A Convenient Option!
Many public libraries across the United States are official passport acceptance facilities. This makes getting your passport more convenient than ever! Libraries often offer:
- Flexible scheduling with evening and weekend hours
- Knowledgeable staff to help with your application
- Convenient locations in your community
- Photo services at some locations
Note: Library passport services are for first-time passport applications and children's passports (Form DS-11). Renewals (Form DS-82) must be done by mail.

What to Bring
- Completed Form DS-11 (do not sign until instructed)
- Proof of U.S. citizenship (birth certificate or naturalization papers)
- Government-issued photo ID
- Passport photo
- Payment for passport fees and execution fee

- Routine Service: 4-6 weeks
- Expedited Service: 2-3 weeks (additional $60 fee)
